Plop down on a sideline for a 3d Georgia game, and it won’t take very long to notice the amount of energy that Johnson plays with. He’s always going a million miles per hour, always fearlessly attacking his matchup — usually defensemen much bigger than him — and riding relentlessly to the midline. Johnson, who just announced his commitment to the Naval Academy, registered a hat trick against one of the top teams in the 2027 class. He’s explosive and slick, with a first step that’s up there with the very best in the country, and he generates so many quality looks as a result.

Johnson is far from the biggest, but more often than not, he’s been the most explosive player on the field whenever I watched 3d Georgia in the fall. He plays with a ton of bounce and confidence, dodging hard and fearlessly, frequently attacking much bigger defensemen. He’s always a threat to beat his man off the dodge, and he doesn’t hesitate to attack highly occupied areas. In a highly enjoyable tilt against Team 91 LI, Johnson got on the board when he finished on the crease after making multiple brilliant fakes to move the goalie. Off the ensuing face-off win, he received the ball on the left side and face-dodged, tucking and ducking underneath a poor approach on his way to the rack.
