Riley Woods scored 74 points (56 goals & 18 assists) as a sophomore. Riley was named Honorable Mention All-Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association in 2025. He returns for the Eagles as the MLSA Preseason Player of the Year for 2026. Woods is a left-handed attacker who can put the ball in the net from anywhere on the field. He capitalizes on transition opportunities & conversely works hard in the ride. Riley is known for making plays in tight spaces, like his around-the-world goal on the run down the hash vs Spire (OH). He scored 6 goals against Gonzaga (DC), all of which were strong-handed. Woods was the #1 overall pick in the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League for indoor. His skill set makes it almost impossible to take away his left, even when you know it is coming. Riley is remarkably accurate with an array of finishing angles, including an unorthodox backhand shovel from the right wing. He is a tough assignment for any defender because of his situational awareness & ability to be effective off the ball. Woods has excellent hand-eye coordination & the ability to haul in almost any pass thrown his way. He gets his shot off quickly & shows range with a great ability to shoot around defenders that are screening the goalie. Verbally committed to the admissions process at Princeton.

Woods is a Canadian prospect with filthy stick skills and a creative offensive mind. His deep bag of spins, jukes and shakes combined with his quick burst made Woods impossible to defend this summer. Woods was able to use those assets to generate offense on the run from anywhere in the offensive end. Still, what this lefty really thrived at was unleashing rockets from the wing. Woods displayed a tremendous ability to find open space, get his feet set as well as his stick ready and then execute a catch and shoot in a flash. His ability to fire shots from every angle was impressive too. Occasionally, Woods would execute a deceptive inside hitch and then blow past the initial defender for a closer attempt. When he was double teamed or drew a slide, Woods smartly moved the ball to an open teammate. This summer Woods also flashed the ability to operate from X as well as midfield.

Woods set the tone early on Monday night, scoring goals on each of his first two touches and then finishing off a fantastic campaign at Showtime by posting a hat trick in the All-Star Game on Wednesday. My favorite ’27 that I saw this spring, the Ontario native racked up at least 10 goals and an assist over five games, and that’s with all six of every team’s attackmen splitting time. He’s remarkably efficient – the ball is in and out of his stick with no time wasted. Blessed with insanely silky mitts, he zips the ball as a shooter who is seldom saved and is a talented passer, even if the stat sheet may say otherwise. In the All-Star Game, he netted an around-the-world through traffic, finished a catch-and-shoot opportunity on the next goal, then got in on some spin-o-rama action on his final tally. There’s a ton to like about Woods, who will have no shortage of high-end options come September.
