Expert Analysis
Ty Xanders | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Simply put, Ford’s six-goal, one-assist performance on Tuesday was sublime. In the first half, he scored four consecutive goals and then assisted on another, and did it all with authority in a variety of ways. Ford is by no means a blazer athletically, but he has excellent footwork and a knack for getting his hands free, often utilizing hard jab steps or rocker moves. His hands and wrists are rather ridiculous, and his release is as pretty as it gets, making it nearly impossible for goalies to get a read. The ball explodes out of his stick when he’s shooting from range, and he’s got super soft hands that allow him to one-touch shots on quick-stick opportunities like he did on Tuesday. Unfazed by contact, he’s incredibly poised and can put the ball in the back of the net under duress with relative ease. He looks every bit a player who will come in and seize a significant role at Richmond as a freshman.
