Mason Aleo
About Mason
Expert Analysis
Ty Xanders | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Having closed his summer in style with a strong showing at the New Balance All-America Games, Aleo announced his commitment to St. Joe’s earlier this month. The Hawks are getting a dynamic and promising longpole who never fails to initiate contact and is a constant pest in 1v1 situations. Relentless with his high motor and competitive energy, he combines advanced footwork, an active stick, and strong defensive instincts. Both live and on film, his poise off the ground stands out — he consistently corrals ground balls cleanly on the first try before jumpstarting transition or finding an open teammate. When Aleo’s between the lines, he’s causing disruption, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him make a significant impact as a junior given how much the Bulldogs graduated on the back end.

Aleo was constantly around the ball and making plays for Team Washington D.C. at the New Balance All-America Games. Athletic and skilled enough to run as an LSM, Aleo also has the IQ and poise to be trusted at close defense. He plays within the slide package, reads offenses well, and generates turnovers by timing his checks and using his body. When he causes a turnover, he’s quick to the ground ball and smooth in transition. With his versatility, instincts, and toughness, Aleo is poised to make an impact at Bullis heading into his junior year.
