Bumping down from the midfield, the Penn State-bound British Columbia native fared nicely in his debut as Lawrenceville’s starting lefty attackman, posting three goals and two assists. Responsible for two of the Big Red’s first four goals, he showed off an outstanding handle on a low pass on a fast break, then finished another on a 3v1 off of a CHC turnover. Able to find seams in defenses with regularity, he’s crafty with the ball in his stick and opportunistic without it, constantly sneaking around the offensive zone to maximize his scoring chances. Lawrenceville thrived in transition on Thursday, and Richardson was a big reason why, also doling out a pair of assists.

Richardson is a crafty player with great stick skills and is fearless with the ball. He finished with two goals and both were in traffic as he endured hard checks from his opponents but was able to stay calm and use his athleticism to stave off defenders. At one point in the first half he was getting doubled by two poles and was able to control the ball with heavy pressure and find a teammate to initiate offense and get the defense moving. He also showed the ability to beat his matchup clean and with his hands free, has a hard and accurate shot which will be a problem for the opposition. He displayed good size, speed and strength and uses it well to absorb checks and create off of that by either finding an open teammates or split the defenders for an unsettled opportunity.

Richardson has an eye for precision. He can nail the back of the net, find the seams in the opposing team’s defense, and create momentum out of thin air. He has smooth stick skills, gifting him a strong field presence and an immediate impact during a game. Most impressively, Richardson plays both field and box lacrosse, and is a dominant left-handed player you’re going to want on your roster. His best showcase to date was his performance at the Autumn Goal Showcase. Time will only tell what the future holds for Richardson.

Richardson first jumped onto my radar during Lawrenceville’s Red vs. Black Game in November ’23, and although he has yet to be featured heavily within the Big Red’s offense, his future is bright and his skill set is tantalizing. A highly skilled left-hander out of Coquitlam (B.C.), Richardson likely projects as a middie, but posted at least seven goals and two assists playing attack at Showtime. Early on, he finished a dodge from the wing and buried a stepdown on back-to-back plays. Richardson snaps off shots before goalies can get a read on him and has a hammer of a shot from deep, along with all of the twisters, backhanders and other fancy finishes that come with box-bred Canadian scorers. He’ll be a hot commodity come September along with several other talented Lawrenceville ’27s, and I have a feeling he’ll pop off next spring.

I’d buy Richardson’s stock now while it’s still cheap, as the incredibly talented left-hander from Coquitlam (B.C.) has the type of game that blue-blood DI programs will drool over when the time comes. Recording a hat trick in the Red vs. Black scrimmage, he’s already built an impressive body of work in both field and box for a young guy, becoming the first Western Canadian to join Jon Posner’s Lawrenceville program since he came over from Culver in the spring of 2020. With silky mitts and fantastic stick skills, he’s able to freeze opposing defenses with multiple fakes and toe-drag his way through multiple poles before finding the back of the net. The fact that he has four years left is a scary thought, so I’m very intrigued to keep following his progress as he continues to develop confidence in the outdoor game.
