I thought Karl Robison was snubbed from the Showtime All-Star Game. He always seems to put up strong numbers, and a lot of that starts with his dominance on the clamp. He wins a lot to himself when he wins the clamp, can outmuscle opponents when it gets tied up, and he is hard to move in ground-ball scrums on 50/50s. Robinson also brings value on both sides of the ball. He has the footwork, strength, and confidence to hold up in one-on-one defense, he handles the ball well, and he even added a goal off the catch at Showtime.

Robison’s blend of size (6-foot-3, 200 pounds), athleticism, face-off dominance, and ball skills makes him a true outlier at the position among ’28s. As a freshman, he won 70 percent of his draws while adding 27 goals, frequently staying on the field to initiate offense and create matchup problems. Another All-Star at Maverik, he was especially imposing in the second half of the ASG, pushing forward at will and barreling toward the cage. Even when he doesn’t win the initial clamp, Robison excels at scrapping his way back to possession and is a vacuum on first-time ground balls. He moves exceptionally well for his size, and while his comfort with the ball makes him an X-factor, he plays with discipline, knowing when to distribute and when to attack. Given how much he brings to the table, it’s hard to envision him not becoming one of the most coveted face-off specialists in the class.

An All-Star at multiple national events last year, he can completely take over a game by controlling possession and momentum. Karl’s power and athleticism allow him to win draws cleanly, push transition, and even score. He goes to the goal off the faceoff better than any player in his age group. His versatility is such that, if he weren’t facing off, he’d still project as a high-level two-way midfielder. A respected presence on the club circuit and a key member of Mad Dog West Elite, Karl pairs dominance with leadership, serving as both a game-changer and a great teammate.
