Maloney’s two-handedness is an attribute that helps set him apart, as he’s got fantastic stick skills to go along with his 6’3, 185-pound frame. This past summer, Maloney made a habit out of scoring even when he was covered well, often catching defenses off guard by getting shots off with a quick flick of the wrists. He’s got the range to bomb it from deep and the slickness to finish in tight spaces, and if the fall circuit served as any indication, Maloney’s gotten better at using his size to his advantage. To me, he looked a lot more comfortable backing his man down or putting his shoulder down to initiate contact on his dodges. Though he’s more than likely a midfielder in college, Maloney has the skill set of an attackman and is proficient in working from a variety of spots on the field.
