Hayes Griffin
About Hayes
Expert Analysis
Niko Amato | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Hayes Griffin is a towering terror on defense whose presence alone alters how offenses attack. Hayes demonstrates superb fundamentals, using leverage & timing to cause turnovers without drawing fouls. He leads with his stick on rotations & follows through with his forearm to neutralize dodgers. Griffin makes impressive reads during scramble situations & closes space in a hurry. He is an intimidating presence all over the field in the 6v6 & has the ideal frame to play man-down. Hayes is comfortable playing on an island or arriving as a help defender with force. His low base & balance allow him to absorb contact, plug the backside, & stymie passing lanes with his reach. On the crease, he brings an enforcer’s mindset, lowering the shoulder & finishing plays through the body. A versatile pole, Griffin can play between the lines, guard midfielders, & take wings on the face-off. He adds value in transition, decisively scooping groundballs & legging it upfield to satisfy the clear. Verbally committed to Notre Dame.

Griffin was a beast defensively for his team, firing on all cylinders and abusing his opponents with physical play. He is a tough player who enjoys hard contact at the point of attack and throws hard slap and poke checks to limit his matchup’s ability. He showed good speed on loose balls and solid stick skills when handling the ball. The Loomis Chaffee product keeps his stick active and in passing lanes with good instincts and hand-eye coordination to cause turnovers with deflections. In his game vs Mad Dog East Elite he stood out with his toughness, effort and physicality as he looked for any way to give his team a chance to come out on top in a tight one goal game.
