In July, DeCecco’s explosive first step combined with his elusive stick maneuvers enabled him to get downhill from up top and then race through opposing defenses for scoring chances in close. His deep bag of finishing moves made DeCecco impossible for goalies to stop around the crease. DeCecco also did a fantastic job of initiating from up top or the wing, drawing the slide and then moving the ball to an open teammate. Additionally, this rising sophomore demonstrated that he is a patient midfielder who could carry the ball behind the net and then quarterback the offense from there. His ability to feed cutters from X was remarkable. DeCecco repeatedly sniped corners on catch-and-fire opportunities, too.     

DeCecco is an explosive offensive prospect with nifty footwork and elite stick skills. That trifecta enables DeCecco to get downhill in a flash, slip through even the smallest holes in the opposing defense and then finish around the net. DeCecco is extremely comfortable initiating from up top or the wing. He has also demonstrated that he can carry the ball behind the net and dodge from X. On the perimeter, DeCecco is a serious step-down shooting threat. DeCecco has shown that he can carve up a defense with his passing too. From up top or the wing, DeCecco excels at looking off defenders and then finding an open teammate on the back post. Plus, DeCecco has a knack for delivering timely skip passes. His ability to remain a poised and patient ball carrier while under significant pressure from a defender is impressive.
