Running with Shaw on defense was this athletic, solidly built pole with an active stick and a physical edge. Boone (Michigan commit) did a tremendous job of getting into ball carriers early in their dodge and throwing them off their intended path. He also caused a few turnovers with physical body/shoulder checks. His ability to find and secure a ground ball in heavy traffic was remarkable. Boone impressed with timely slides and double teams, too.

Boone established himself as one of the best cover defenders in Maryland public schools this spring. At Broadneck, he consistently matched up against tough competition, holding his own against Severna Park, South River, and delivering a flawless performance in the state championship against Urbana. Boone carried that momentum into the summer with the Annapolis Hawks, where his play against elite competition earned him an offer from Michigan.

Boone’s calling card is his lockdown ability in 1-on-1 situations, which he showcased at The Countdown against some of the nation’s best. Beyond individual matchups, he brings strong team defense, showing excellent recognition of when to support teammates and perfectly timing his slides to shut down threats. With his blend of cover skills and defensive IQ, Boone looks like a high-level addition to Michigan’s back line.
