In recent weeks, this athletic and fast pole did a tremendous job of harassing ball carriers on the perimeter. His polished footwork and active stick also played a significant role in Simpson’s ability to apply constant pressure on an offensive player. Additionally, Simpson showcased that he could play a patient and physical style of LSM and wear down the ball carrier until he made a mistake. He did a fantastic job of communication about and then navigating his way through screens too. As a bonus to his defensive skills, Simpson was a plus player on the offensive end. He frequently snatched up ground balls and then sprinted out of the defensive end to create a fast break opportunity. Simpson proved on several times that he is a threat to fire on net while running full speed. But Simpson’s high lacrosse IQ kept him from forcing the action.
