Downey brings a unique presence every time he steps into the crease. The Ontario native gained valuable experience this summer with the Orangeville Northmen Jr. B team while also serving as the starter for The Hill Academy in the spring. While he may not always be the most technical goalie in the 2027 class, his production and impact speak for themselves. The lefty stands out with his calm, collected stance against shooters and the explosive quickness of his hands. Beyond shot-stopping, Downey’s athleticism makes him a difference-maker. He moves pipe-to-pipe with speed, reads passing lanes to pick off feeds, and handles the ball at a high level to spark transition. With his rare mix of poise, athleticism, and playmaking ability, Downey has all the tools to be one of the most dynamic goalies in the 2027 class.
