A highly sought-after lefty with a family pedigree and marketable creativity, Chris Colsey brings a new age innovation to the game and embodies the phrase “the stick has eyes.” His low-angle finishing is surgical, with toe-drags, mesmerizing electric fakes, and vision that turns every possession into a scoring threat. Colsey doesn’t just play offense — he orchestrates it.
Chris was named 1st Team All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference and 2nd Team All-State by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association as a sophomore. He helped Ridgefield finish 17–4 and capture the program’s first FCIAC Championship since 2009. Colsey recorded 42 goals and 25 assists (67 points) in 2025, building on a freshman season of 40 goals and 44 assists (84 points) that immediately established him as the Tigers’ offensive engine.
Confident in the clutch, Chris was instrumental in Ridgefield’s 12–7 FCIAC Championship win over top-seeded New Canaan (CT), merging his four goals with set-up passes and his intuition to control the flow of the game.
Verbally committed to North Carolina, Chris Colsey projects as a game-changing paradigm shifter for Chapel Hill’s #1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, bringing elite skill, spectacular wizardry, and a championship mindset to the next level.

This lefty was already a highly regarded 2027 prospect, but this summer Colsey took his game to another level and his recruiting stock followed. Colsey’s ability to receive a pass on the wing or GLE area and then quickly fire into the back of the net was extraordinary. There was no wasted movement in his shot, and he pulled the trigger from numerous angles. Colsey was also effective at scoring on the move. He was extremely lethal operating from X where his quick burst and shake enabled him to cook defenders and then score as he turned the corner. Plus, Colsey attacked the cage from the wing with a quick inside hitch or stutter step move, followed by a dash into open space for a rip. His creative passing skills flashed this summer too. We expect Colsey will be a popular man on September 1st.

Colsey has been written about on this site quite a bit, and for good reason. When he plays within himself, he’s incredibly difficult to stop, and that’s something he did exceptionally well at Nilly. Racking up a ton of points throughout the event, he posted a hat trick in the semifinals, making a habit out of getting up the hash or burying shots from the wing. Colsey’s stick skills are a thing of beauty, which comes as no surprise considering his lineage. The more I watch him, the more I’m blown away by his shot placement and ability to consistently change levels. In particular, he shoots low-to-low at an advanced level. Colsey’s work in the riding game is also a hallmark of his game. With family ties to three out of the five ACC schools, his recruitment will be rather intriguing to follow.

Yet another known commodity with strong bloodlines, Colsey came off an excellent First Team All-FCIAC sophomore campaign and showed off his ridiculous skill level at Showtime. Producing at least nine goals and an assist, Colsey was also responsible for one of the top highlights from the event, burying an insane jumping between-the-legs goal among other Instagram-friendly finishes. He absolutely hums the ball as a shooter and is able to freeze defenses with fakes to get his hands free. There are times he needs to rein in his shot selection, but it’s something that you learn to live with since he creates so many scoring opportunities. In addition to what he’s able to do with the ball in his stick, he adds an element to the riding game with his relentless effort.

Colsey is a standout sophomore and a pivotal player for Ridgefield, with his development this season playing a key role in the team’s success. Carrying a big name thanks to his older brothers, Ryan and Kyle, who play lacrosse at Virginia, Chris is carving out his legacy with his talent and potential. Unfortunately for the rest of the FCIAC, a third Colsey brother is coming up the ranks. Suiting up on varsity for his father Roy, a four-time All-American at Syracuse, Chris is the youngest of three and follows in the footsteps of Ryan – a redshirt freshman at Virginia who is running on the ‘Hoos top midfield line – as well as 5-star senior Kyle, who will join his older brother in Charlottesville in August. With that kind of lineage, Chris is as skilled and savvy as you’d expect. Another lefty, he’s explosive and elusive with the ball in his stick and is constantly making plays that freeze the defense, showing the ability to finish under duress or unleash a big mid-range shot when appropriate. Over the summer, he posted four goals in the One Percent Showcase All-Star Game and was named Offensive MVP.
