Expert Analysis
Ty Xanders | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Cornell clearly had Spahr on its list of priority recruits, landing him less than a week into September. The upside is clear — he’s a big lefty who can shoot from range and help create offense from a variety of spots, as he’s proven himself at attack in the spring and midfield during the club seasons. As a sophomore, Spahr went off for 25 goals and 21 assists, doing an excellent job of nailing shots from the right hash with his feet set while building confidence as a dodger and feeder. Part of a promising youth movement for the Falcons a year ago, he can score under duress but also find cutters with nasty skip passes. Because of his size and how well he moves his 6’3 frame around, Spahr’s tough for defenders to get their hands on and can draw slides with regularity. The Big Red coaching staff has always done an excellent job identifying prospects whose best lacrosse is ahead of them, and Spahr fits that mold, so I’m excited to see where he takes his game.
