This first thing that jumps out about Yocum’s game is that for a 2028 pole, he owns extremely polished stick skills. Yocum owns a deep bag of stick maneuvers that allows him to elude riding attackman as he pushes the ball up field. His passing, shooting and ground ball skills are well beyond his years too. Defensively, Yocum uses his speed, non-stop motor, and active stick to constantly harass the hands of opposing ball carriers. His ability to repeatedly beat an offensive player to a spot and then turn him is remarkable. Once Yocum has worn out his opponent, he can deliver a variety of stick checks that put the ball on the turf. Yocum also will not hesitate to cause a turnover by taking the body. This sophomore has already displayed a solid understanding of team defensive concepts. Yocum’s constant communication with his teammates helps keep his defensive unit connected. Finally, Yocum, a First Team WPIAL AA selection, has the discipline and agility to lock off an opposing team’s No. 1 option.
