McGovern is an agile attack with polished skills and noteworthy size. Combine those items with McGovern’s quick burst as well as his serious shake, and you get an attack prospect who is impossible to defend 1v1. McGovern’s ability to blow past his initial defender and get into the heart of the defense wreaks havoc on opposing teams. If an opposing team slides too early, McGovern will use his field vision to find an open teammate. When the slide comes late, that allows McGovern to charge all the way to crease for a scoring chance in close. Of course, McGovern can also cook his defender, dash into open space, and then fire from deep. McGovern has demonstrated that he can operate at X as an initiator or a feeder. In mid-June, McGovern gave his verbal commitment to Robert Morris.
