Smith set a program record with 69 points this season, earning First Team All-County and Second Team All-Greater Rochester honors in the process. He’s a wildly skilled goal-scorer who can fill up a stat sheet in a hurry when paired with guys who can get him the ball. He’ll make one move and go or thrive off the catch, showing a strong catch radius and consistently hauling in everything thrown his way. A sneaky strength is his vision; he does a nice job of drawing attention before finding an open teammate. I wasn’t able to get a sense of his game until later in the summer, but he consistently found himself at the end of plays for a talented Upstate New York squad at the New Balance All-America Underclass Tournament. With excellent hands and a knack for finding soft spots off-ball, Smith possesses one of the best qualities a scorer can have: he doesn’t need the ball in his stick often to make an impact.
