A towering presence at 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds, King is the type of player who immediately catches your eye when he steps onto the field. From there, he’s a hard-charging downhill dodger who uses his basketball-bred footwork, vision, and size to navigate past longsticks and create quality looks on cage. As feared as he is as a scorer, his unselfishness and passing ability are equally impressive — King excels at drawing slides and quickly finding teammates for quality scoring opportunities. He also has the luxury of playing alongside another of the Midwest’s premier talents, midfielder Chase Jackson, a 6-foot-3 horse whom we highlighted the other day. When the ball is in his stick and the second slide comes, King will often put his shoulder down or wiggle past them to get his hands free in tight. I’m still of the belief that his very best lacrosse is still to come, especially as he continues to develop his off-hand.
