Mongon is an athletic and well-rounded offensive prospect who made a name for himself this fall as an impactful two-way midfielder. This middy with serious shake proved he is comfortable dodging going to his left or right and can shoot / distribute with either hand. Mongon’s ability to get downhill, run through stick checks and then fire on the run was impressive too. At the defensive end, Mongon’s quick lateral movements and active stick made him a tenacious on-ball defender. His well-timed crowbars generated turnovers. Over the last few weeks, Mongon frequently snared ground balls, then used his speed to separate from the pack and lead transition opportunities. On one or two GBs, Mongon proved he knows how to use his body to shield off opposing players until he secured possession. As a bonus to his midfield skills, Mongon flashed the ability to play at attack.
