King brings an aggressive, high-energy style to the goaltender position that allows him to tilt the field for his team. On WKing brings an aggressive, high-energy presence to the goaltender position that consistently shifts momentum in his team’s favor. On Wednesday, he looked completely dialed in, tracking everything thrown his way. He was exceptional down low and turned offside high shots into popcorn. As impressive as he was inside the crease, what truly separates King is his impact outside of it. He’s remarkably poised with the ball, turning big saves into quick, accurate outlet passes that spark transition opportunities. When the moment calls for it, he’ll push the pace himself — carrying upfield, crossing midfield, and even looking to score. He consistently wins run-outs for possession and isn’t afraid to play physically when needed, drawing a flag on one occasion after laying a kid out. Only allowing four goals, I had him down for nine (!!!) second half saves after making four in the opening 24 minutes, though he may have had another one or two that I missed. Denver already boasts an All-American in net, and while King’s arrival will overlap with Grayson Manning’s senior season, the Pioneers appear exceptionally well-positioned in goal for years to come.

, who is expected to be among the top-ranked ’28s, King will compete for the starting job this spring to help fill the vacancy left by the graduation of current Harvard freshman Liam O’Keefe. Covering up a ton of cage and possessing an explosive top hand, King moves deftly from pipe-to-pipe and attacks the ball vigorously without guessing and sacrificing his fundamentals. In addition to making highlight reel-worthy saves in bunches, King is phenomenal out of the crease, where his athleticism really pops. He’s known for winning huge run-outs, corralling key groundballs, tossing pinpoint outlets with poise, and clearing the ball over the midline himself. If he seizes the job, he’ll instantly add energy and strong leadership qualities to the Loomis lineup.
