Boyer’s year-over-year improvement is hard to miss — getting to work with first-year Scots defensive coordinator and PLL All-Star Matt Dunn clearly helped his development, as his defensive principles and cover ability have drastically improved. He does a plethora of things at a high level. Boyer gets the ball up off the carpet cleanly every time and goes hard in scrum situations to gain possession for his squad. Once the ball is in his stick, he does a great job of rolling away from pressure and getting the ball upfield. When covering ball-carriers 1v1, he’s physical and throws precise checks with his feet moving at full speed. Expect him to keep moving his game forward between now and his arrival in Columbus.
