New England 2028s: More September Superlatives

<p>The first three weeks of 2028 recruiting have been, predictably, unhinged, not in a bad way, but with a relentless inevitability that grips the lacrosse community by the throat this time of year. That's how this time of year typically goes, but there are some standout players who fit particularly well with their chosen programs. Here are four players who are headed to programs where they can thrive, and why their choices may impact the entire class.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Best <strong>Catalyst</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">I doubt that Cherenek will be the Big Green's final piece of this year's recruiting puzzle, but he is one of the most impactful. Cherenek has gone head to head against some of the best draw men that the prep ranks can offer in the Founder's League. He's also got two years left to improve against those same opponents, who will be rolling out new and improved FO men to rattle and battle Cherenek. The former seems rather unlikely, as he has taken on multiple players who are committed to ACC and Big 10 schools last year. Dartmouth picked up a potential four-year starter in two years, and not enough people are talking about it.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Best Fit</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">A rangy and punishing defender who became one of Sebs' most important players down the stretch last spring, Sullivan is heading to a program that is tailor-made for his talents. Georgetown defenders have to be skilled in more than just one-on-one defending and perpetual violence; they need to know how to slide, how to build in the clear, and kickstart the offense in transition. Sullivan is skilled in all of those things and will enter his junior season as a starter for the Arrows, where he will play multiple spots on the backline. Square hole, meet square peg. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Biggest Surprise</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">I doubt that anyone would have predicted Tabacco's move to Jacksonville before the window opened. A midfielder with a slasher's mentality and a bag full of dodges is what every team wants to get in the first month of this window. However, most of the teams that end up fulfilling that desire aren't in Florida. Tabacco is an excellent party starter in settled sets, and can get to his spots with relative ease, even against longpoles. The Dolphins have to be ecstatic to get a guy like him this early in the class of '28 recruiting process.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Underrated Pickup</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">One of the more promising players in this Deerfield class is one of Penn's sneakiest adds in this class. Among the rest of the high-profile offensive acquisitions that the Quakers have made, Mulderig is far from a bolted-on addition late in the first part of the window. He is the real deal; just look at his development at Deerfield and this past summer if you want to see a wild transformation. A creative finisher who reads the game well from X or the wing, Mulderig might project as an O-mid at the college ranks, but he has all the guile to contribute from any spot in a settled set. Hockey assists, diagonal flicks, twisters - the ball doesn't even know how it's going to come out of his stick until it's already in the air. </p>    <p></p>   <p></p>   <p></p>
