DeVito has great feet and does not overpursue his man, even if they are driving to X or the corner. He has excellent stick and check control to boot. The way that he can guide ball carriers away from the net and then isolate on them before they get their feet set to dodge is what college coaches are looking for. I would not be surprised to see him commit in the second wave. He has the size and power base that is necessary to catch the eye of recruiters – it’s just a matter of when, not if, they see him play again this fall. His combo checking ability alone should yield him some offers in the coming weeks.

I watched a ton of Tabor this spring, and DeVito was consistently impressive, making life difficult for some of the ISL’s more capable goal-scorers. Quite frankly, he was one of my favorite 2028 close defenders I saw during the high school season. DeVito consistently gets leverage against his opponents, getting underneath dodgers and staying on their hands to prevent them from making plays. He has the athleticism and foot speed to run with most, along with the kind of defensive posture, both on and off the ball, that DCs tend to look for. His stick is always in the right position, and he has plenty of strength to push guys off their line. He can play LSM in a pinch, too, and often did for Laxachusetts, pressing out and wreaking havoc when the time was right. I love his hands and footwork, and felt like he did plenty this summer — including earning All-Star Game honors at Main Stage — to put himself in a great position heading into 9/9
