The Faith Lutheran Crusaders took on the One Hill Falcons last night at McCarran Marketplace. One Hill came out playing with fire, and they took a 1-0 lead after winning the faceoff and barreling down to score. Things then stayed tight in the first quarter due to some Crusader miscues, but they then found their rhythm as they got the jitters out. And guys like Ky-Mani Blas-Barlow, [player_tooltip player_id='174962' first='Joey' last='Marmor'], and Weston Schultz got to work.

The Crusaders then truly came alive in the second quarter, widening their lead from 4-1 to 12-1 going into halftime, in part thanks to Finn Reber who had 3 goals. Then in the second half, the Falcons kept competing, but Faith's offense and time of possession proved to be too much to overcome. While One Hill did score again, they just couldn't keep pace, and the final score was 18-2, Faith Lutheran.

Faith Lutheran is now 3-0 in LVLA league play, and One Hill moves to 0-3.

Finn Reber had himself a day in Faith Lutheran's matchup against One Hill. The freshman racked up points in their win, finishing with 4 goals and 1 assist. He got going by showing some patience with the rock, letting defenders overplay him, which gave him the space needed to get inside and notch his first goal. He then kept it going by setting up his teammates, and he tallied his second goal after scooping up a loose GB. Reber then found the back of the net two more times, using a nice face dodge to score his final goal. Overall, I was a fan of his pace, instincts, and finishing ability.

[player_tooltip player_id='174962' first='Joey' last='Marmor'] has been on a tear in the Crusaders' first 3 LVLA games. He had 4 goals against Bishop Gorman, 3 goals against the Pirates, and he put 3 goals away in their win over One Hill. He has a knack for both scoring in transition and getting lost in the shuffle. His first goal was particularly impressive, as he absorbed a hit as he let it go, showcasing his toughness and accuracy. Considering his nose for the goal, he'll likely keep stuffing the stat sheet.

Weston Schultz made his presence felt with his field vision, frame, and shooting last night. I was a big fan of his first goal, when he released a slick jump shot from about 10–12 yards out that went bottom right. He then cranked another shot from at least 12 yards out, and it stung the net. He can accelerate by defenders if given the chance, and he makes the right passes when a slide comes. I also noticed him making plays in the middle of the field, applying pressure during rides and battling for ground balls consistently. Although One Hill didn't get the win, he competed all four quarters and was a difference maker for them.
