Michael Campanile | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Conly diced defenders when he operated behind the cage at Best in Class. He is a savvy, two-handed attackman who plays tight to the crease with and without the ball. I saw him score twice on day one. On the first, Conly made the perfect sprint-fade play when he saw his defender show adjacent to the dodger, then finished right-handed up the hash. On the second, he dodged to the lefty island and finished with an inside roll. On tape, he shakes defenders with his change of direction, knows how to shrug off pressure, and can generate shots in tight spaces, especially on the island.

Less than six months removed from helping his team win a state championship, Conly was playing with a considerable amount of confidence at Terp Classic, posting a hat trick in the game that I caught. He proved to be a tough matchup, with his burst, change-of-direction, and two-handedness allowing him to constantly get his hands free for quality looks. He’s perfectly happy scoring from tough angles under duress, too, and did so on his way to a three-goal showing. Conly’s just as dangerous from the wing, but he seems to be at home behind the cage, where he does an impeccable job setting up his dodges, taking on poor approaches, and finishing in front. Simply put, he just kept on getting a step on his man.
