Niko Colavecchio’s day-one showing for VLC at the Terrapin Classic was impressive. He blazed with speed, sliced through defenders with sharp re-dodges, and buried catch-and-shoot goals with confidence. His burst pulls defenders into chase mode, and when he layers in hesitations and rocker moves, he leaves both his matchup and the slide behind. Off the ball, Colavecchio’s speed helps him slip into open windows, and he’s always poised to shoot. He catches passes “loaded,” snapping off his release with quickness and velocity. If his performance at Terp Classic is any indication, Colavecchio will be one of VLC’s first names to come off the board.
