It was hard for McDonogh to find a spot for Walsh, especially with Hunter Metz, arguably the best player in the MIAA, occupying the lefty wing where Walsh is most comfortable. Walsh looked right at home at that spot for Choate during NHSLS, connecting a couple of times with Hilltop teammate Michael Bruketta.
Walsh is a lefty, slasher-type player who can make things happen both with and without the ball. From the left wing, he has a box-player feel to his game, inviting defenders to overplay his top hand before getting underneath and reaching to finish from tough, low angles. His on-the-run shooting and diverse dodge package really set him apart. He delivers a smooth sidearm/three-quarter release on the run, particularly when defenses allow him to get to the middle of the field. You can really see Walsh’s dodging ability when he initiates from behind the cage or the high wing. He loves to open possessions with a skipping split dodge, and has the rockers and swims to free his hands when needed.
