"Must See" 2027s For College Coaches This Fall

Below is a review of five Class of 2027 prospects who impressed us with their elite skills during summer 2025.   Thus we are recommending that college coaches add these talented 2027s to their “must see” list for the upcoming fall recruiting season.    Coakley is a long, speedy, and technically sound SSDM who can stop an offensive player dead in his tracks anywhere on the field. This gritty prospect gets into dodgers early and often. Once the offensive player is off balance, Coakley will execute a heavy stick check or crowbar that knocks the ball loose. Coakley also will not hesitate to use a shoulder check to create a turnover. He is the rare SSDM who appears comfortable operating on an island. But Coakley really excels once the ball is on the turf. With his quick burst and elite ground ball skills, Coakley pounces on those turnovers and secures possession. Once the ball is in his mesh, the possession is over for the opposing offense as Coakley will then race downfield for a transition scoring opportunity. Coakley's elusive moves and field vision carry him into the heart of the defense where he is a threat to shoot or smartly distribute to open teammate. College coaches will love Coakley's non-stop motor and deep understanding of team defensive concepts.     Nurry is an agile and versatile attack who is a match-up nightmare for opponents. At 6'1” and 200 pounds, Nurry can simply bully defenders until he gets to his spots for a shot. His impressive size also enables Nurry to dodge from the wing or X and absorb significant contact on his way to the cage. Nurry's quick first step and shifty moves makes it impossible for larger bodied poles to defend him. He will simply blow past them and find open space where can unleash a shot on the run. Nurry owns a deep bag of creative finishes, so once he is in close, goalies stand no chance. His timely use of deceptive stick and head fakes is impressive. In addition to being an elite scoring machine, Nurry is a fantastic distributor who can thread a dime to the backside or deal out an assist from behind the cage. As a bonus to his offensive skills, Nurry's high energy and instinctive style of play makes him an effective part of any team's ride.     Popow is a poised and high IQ midfielder with a knack for patiently reading the opposing defense until a high percentage opportunity presents itself. His creative and precise passing skills frequently catch defenses napping. When he is looking to score, Popow can get downhill from up top, run through stick checks, and then finish with powerful overhands or a quick release side arm shot. His ability to string together multiple spins and cuts makes him extremely difficult to defend in space. From the wing Popow does fantastic job of dipping underneath a defender and then charging to the net for a dunk. Popow has also proven he can sweep over the top from the wing and then ping corners or uncork a bouncer while on the move. This versatile midfielder can dodge going left or right and can pass or shoot with either hand. Popow's step down shot is a legitimate weapon too.     This athletic, fast, and physical LSM / close defender should be on every college coach's radar. Roach thrives on the perimeter where his physical assets combined with his refined footwork enable him to dog ball carriers all the way out to the midfield line. His ability to stick tight to an offensive player and stay on his hands through multiple changes of direction is unique. Roach can also drop down and play close def where he can use his physicality to stand up dodgers from X or the wing. On his well-timed slides and double teams, Roach frequently takes the body too. His intimidating size (200 lbs.) and experiences on the gridiron (QB at Lambert) are the reasons Roach plays with an edge to his game. Roach's crafty pokes, timely lifts and powerful stick checks cause a slew of turnovers. He is quick to scoop up those GBs and then run out of the defensive zone himself or clear the ball via a precise outlet pass.     If opponents let Warburton win the draw cleanly it is game over, as his incredible foot speed makes him impossible to track down. With his speed, elusive moves, and ability to shoot from multiple angles, Warburton is a legitimate threat to score on the run. Plus, Warburton can deal out assists when the defense slides to him. Despite his excellence on the fast break, Warburton will not force the action in transition because he is a high IQ specialist who values possession. Warburton excels at clean defensive exits too. His ability to spin and then use his body to hold off his opponent while he secures possession is impressive. Warburton has also proven that he can win the clamp and then snap the ball to one of his wings. Of course, all these wins at the face off dot are result of Warburton's powerful hands, polished mechanics, and quick reaction times.
