Expert Analysis
Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
This season Fletcher posted 53 goals to go along with 19 dimes. Thus, it should not come as a surprise that he stuffed the stat book 2 goals and 2 assists in Manheim’s win. Fletcher posted those stats despite extra attention from Mt. Lebanon’s defensive unit in the form of double teams and early slides. Fletcher is an extraordinarily athletic offensive prospect with an explosive first step and filthy stick skills. His first goal was a thing of beauty. On that play, Fetcher executed a nasty split dodge to his right, dashed down the alley and then ripped a shot near side, just over the goalie’s shoulder. Fletcher’s ability to absorb double teams and then move the rock to an open teammate was impressive too.

Fletcher made headlines early in the regular season after he exploded for several hat tricks. He continued to find the back of the net at an impressive rate this spring and posted 53 goals before the District 3 3A champions even start state tournament play. Fletcher is an extraordinarily athletic and speedy midfielder with filthy stick skills. He also possesses excellent field vision and an unselfish mind set. That list of assets enables Fletcher to thrive on the fast break and in settled action as a shooter or distributor. Fletcher can initiate from anywhere on the field and then run over or blow past his defender. College coaches will love Fletcher’s timely off-ball movements that produce clean looks in-close. After his incredible regular season, Fletcher (53G & 19A) was named to the 1st Team All Lancaster-Lebanon League squad.

Fletcher delivered when it mattered most, scoring the overtime game-winner to lift Manheim Township over Marcellus (N.Y.) at the Homegrown Classic. On the game-winning play, Fletcher caught the ball near the top of the box, drove down the alley with his left hand, and drew a pressured double. He baited the sliding defender out on him, swam over the defender to get to the middle, and buried it low-and-away before the slider could get there. Fletcher also came through with a clutch goal late in the fourth quarter to give Township a one-goal lead. After catching a pass off a ball swing, he sold his defender on a potential dodge before recognizing he had enough space to let it fly. With perfect timing, he ripped a shot off his defender’s hip that froze the goalie.
Fletcher is a pure scorer in Manheim Township’s offense. Even when he dodges, he finds ways to get his feet set and fire missiles past goalies. He doesn’t just shoot them wherever. His varied release points — often underhand — keep goalies guessing and make him a constant threat to score from multiple angles. Fletcher, a three-sport athlete, should be an interesting recruit to keep tabs on come the summer.

Fletcher’s second year on Manheim’s varsity squad is off to an incredible start. This extremely skilled, athletic, and speedy midfielder erupted for four goals against Spring Ford and then 3 goals versus Conestoga Valley. Fletcher followed up those efforts with a 2-goal performance against Marcellus (N.Y.) that included the game-winner in overtime. Fletcher excels in transition as well as getting downhill in 6v6 action. In both situations, Fletcher can run over, around, or past initial defenders and then crank or distribute on the run. Fletcher is also an outstanding off-ball midfielder with a knack for cutting down the middle of the field for catch-and-shoot goals around the high crease.
