It didn’t take long for Swan to catch my eye. Fresh off a breakthrough junior season in which he nabbed All-League honors, Swan was one of the more impactful defensive midfielders I saw at the event. A relentless competitor who does the little things at a high level, Swan routinely gave bigger midfielders trouble by initiating contact, taking away their strong hand, and preventing rollbacks. He seemed to have an excellent command of Choate’s slide packages and never slipped off-ball, all while doing a lot of good work off the ground and in the clear. It felt like his team fed off of his big plays, whether that was a hard-nosed groundball in the fourth quarter or Swan putting an opposing dodger in a seatbelt. A week or two after the event, Swan announced his commitment to defending Patriot League champion Colgate.
