Goodwin was an integral piece to the Ridgers’ defensive unit last spring when they won their first-ever state title. Now looking to go back-to-back, he’s been just as steady and consistent between the pipes. Behind Goodwin’s outstanding season, Glen Ridge holds a 15-6 record, earning itself the 4th seed in the South Jersey Group 1 bracket, where he tallied 15 saves in a tight 10-7 quarterfinal win against New Providence. He’s the commander of the defense, with good communication and leadership in net. He currently sits at 224 saves on the year, but with the run Glen Ridge is gearing up for, he should have no problem surpassing his save total from 2025, when he finished with 242 saves and a ring.

Goodwin stood strong between the pipes for Glen Ridge in a losing effort, while tallying north of 20 saves and seeing a high volume of shots from skilled shooters for Delbarton. He stonewalled opponents on the doorstep multiple times, displaying quick hands and a good instinct in cage. He did not spoil easy save chances and made his opponents earn every goal, and saw the ball well out of the stick. Goodwin did a great job of controlling the rock after saves, not letting it pop out to the crease for a rebound, and served up crisp outlet passes in the clearing game. When a fast break opportunity presented itself, he took the chance, and when there was nothing, he worked methodically upfield and used his defenders for help. While it wasn’t a win, Goodwin made every play possible to keep his team in this game.

Goodwin is a game-changer in cage for his team, with his footwork and quick reaction time, he is a frustrating goalie to play against and figure out. In his game vs 2Way he came up with 7 saves in only one half played, splitting time in cage. He has quick hands and attacks the ball on bouncers to prevent a rebound chance and moves well laterally with good position in net. He faced a great shooting team and while he let a few past him, he also made some terrific stops and didn’t allow the game to get out of hand early. Besides coming up with eye-popping saves, the Glen Ridge product communicates well between the pipes and has good awareness, hustling to the end line on wide shots with no back-up and being a key piece in the clearing game.
