With Yorktown's Chad Bowen and Lakeland's Michael DiCiccio at the ready on the 50-yard line, the game was set to begin. Throughout quarter one, we saw Yorktown put up 6 goals, leaving Lakeland with no score, and winning every face-off except for one. Jack Simone and [player_tooltip player_id='124985' first='Gianluca' last='Marchini'] seemed to be on the same wavelength for the Huskers as they found each other time and time again, trading off goals and assists. Yorktown's Frankie Ofrias was able to weave his way through the Rebels' defense, creating goal-scoring opportunities for his team and even racking in some points himself. Lakelands Nick Kaufman did his best to vocalize the slides on the defensive end while also capitalizing on 50/50 chances in favor of his team. Rebels Declan Duggan caught onto Kaufman's leadership and kept his head on a swivel the entire time. CC Savastano tallied in a knockdown, and #88 played strong physical defense as well. The Rebels did what they could but couldn't keep up.

The next 12 minutes of play were led by Rebels defender Bryan Depascale, who constantly manned the fort. #88 was right there with him, but it wasn't enough to stop the Huskers. We saw a fast break from Yorktown and some more shifty goals on their end. The Rebels were finally able to put a point on the scoreboard with 6:31 remaining in the half, as Jesse Dipaola ripped one to the back of the net unassisted. The score was 9-1. Lakeland's Vinny Savastano and Oban Rader were the only other Rebels to find the back of the net. Yorktown's game IQ was unmatched throughout the day's play. They executed gorgeous fastbreaks and fakes + finishes. They weren't afraid to take risks and always had their stick in their outside hand. The two teams went into halftime at 13-3.

Rather than breaking down the second half of the game, obsessively won by Yorktown, let's take a look at some standout players.

On or off the field, Vinny has a next-play mentality. It's always what he can do next instead of dwelling on the past. His ability to create space and momentum for his offense doesn't go unnoticed. He also demonstrated incredible shot placement, being one of the leading scorers for the Rebels.
