This past week the Kentucky lacrosse scene descended upon Shelbyville and Collins High School for what was the first-ever final four under the KHSAA umbrella.

The last four teams standing in the Bluegrass were South Warren out of the first region, Trinity out of the fourth region, South Oldham out of the sixth, and Woodford County out of the eighth. Each of those were reigned as champions of their respective regions.

As we continue to take a look back at the seasons that each of those four squads had, we move to the eighth region champion Woodford County Yellowjackets.

Perhaps no program in the state has garnered as much growth and success as quickly as Woodford County. The Yellowjackets won just four games in 2021 but increased that win total to 11 in 2022 and 12 in 2023. Then, in 2024, the Yellowjackets made some serious noise across the Bluegrass as Ted Wilson guided his squad to an unbeaten season that ended with a CLL title. In year one of the KHSAA era, Woodford County remained among the best in the Bluegrass as they went 14-3 their only losses coming against eventual champion Trinity or eventual runner-up South Oldham.

Woodford County saw their season come to an end with a 15-11 loss to the Dragons of South Oldham in the state semifinals. The Yellowjackets defeated Henry Clay 17-5 and Frederick Douglass 16-6 en route to their final four appearance. Entering the state tournament, the Yellowjackets had ran through an eighth region tournament that saw them outscore their opponents 53-8.

In 2025, Woodford County was headlined by an exceptionally efficient offense. The Yellowjackets averaged 18.6 goals per game and put up a team shooting percentage of 45%. Woodford County was the number one scoring offense in the state. The trio of Greyson Hodge, Aidan McMahon, and Cole Humston lead the group as the three attributed for 56% of the team's total offensive production.

Woodford County also had one of of the best defense in the state, holding their opponents to an average 5.5 goals per game.
