Delaware Valley Prospects To Scout This Fall

Atkins also does a fantastic job of staying square on shooters and then popping off his line for saves. This list of assets enables Atkins to frequently make clean saves. Atkins also possesses the agility to execute swift drops in order to stop bouncers or low shots. Atkins' quick reflexes, athleticism, and non-stop motor help him quickly reset to make saves on rebound attempts or scramble to cover loose balls. Once the ball is in his stick, Atkins has poise beyond his years and will deliver precise clearing passes. On the lacrosse field, Benner brings extraordinary versatility to any team as he can run at O-Mid, SSDM, and LSM. Offensively, Benner excels in transition and has shown that he can go coast-to-coast for a goal or an assist. In 6v6 action, Benner can also cook his initial defender and then rip or drop a dime while on the move. Benner's long-range shot must be respected too. On defense, Benner is a tenacious on-ball defender at both short-stick and LSM. He does a superb job of getting into ball carriers early in their dodge and pushing them off their intended path. Benner can also create turnovers with pokes, lifts, slaps, and powerful crowbars. Once the ball hits the turf, Benner will not hesitate to pick up the GB in traffic, dash to open space, and then fire a smart clearing pass upfield. Diem is an athletic and agile LSM / close defender with an aggressive style of play. As an on-ball defender, he can stay glued to an opponent and torture him with slaps, lifts, and pokes. When the moment presents itself, Diem will execute a can opener or unleash a forceful body check that puts the ball on the turf. Diem does a tremendous job of navigating his way over or through screens too. Off-ball, Diem's slides, double teams, and recoveries are always on point. He is also a master at coming off his man and delivering a perfectly timed trail check on the ball carrier. As a bonus to his defensive skills, Diem is a plus player in the clearing/transition game. Emidy is fleet-footed and owns smooth lateral movements as well as an active stick. That trifecta makes Emidy a suffocating on-ball defender. Additionally, this lefty has proven that he possesses the athleticism and discipline to lock off an opposing team's No. 1 option for an entire game. Emidy's non-stop motor and positioning skills enable him to secure ground balls in a crowd. Once Emidy has possession, he can push the fast break for his team. He is especially effective when he gets downhill from up top, eludes sliding defenders, and then scores or distributes on the run. When Hedberg decides to fire on net, he can score via powerful overhands and sidearm rips, or crafty bouncers. His ability to charge through significant contact on those runs is impressive. Additionally, Hedberg has demonstrated that he can crank long-range step-downs into the net. College coaches will love Hedberg's timely off-ball movements.
