Below is a review of talented prospects from the Delaware Valley (SEPA, South Jersey & Delaware) who recently gave their verbal commitment to a college program.    Dougherty recently committed to Long Island University and this lefty offensive prospect is a fantastic addition by the Sharks coaching staff. Dougherty is a highly decorated 2027 with a well-rounded skill set. Last season Dougherty was a 1st Team South Jersey ILL All-Conference selection as well as a 3rd Team All-State honoree. Additionally, this lefty has already recorded over 100 goals in his varsity career. Dougherty does the bulk of his scoring damage by initiating from the wing or up top and then changing directions multiple times until his hands are free for a rip. His ability to stop on a dime and roll back to his left hand is especially impressive. But Dougherty can create scoring chances off-ball too. His well-timed sweeps and cuts lead to frequent catch and shoot opportunities around the crease. Dougherty has also demonstrated a unique skill for catching the rock in traffic, and then slipping underneath defenders or between double teams for finishes in close.          Back on December 5th, Kleinannounced that he had committed to UMass-Lowell and on that day the River Hawks landed a hidden gem from Southeastern Pennsylvania. Klein is an athletic and agile righty with the ability to snipe while on the run. In short, Klein is a serious scoring threat in transition as well as when he gets downhill during settled action. His ability to shoot from multiple angles while he is on the move keeps goalies guessing. On the rare occasion where Klein's charge to the net gets stifled, he has shown the patience to bounce out and then re-dodge. Still, Klein will not possess the rock for an ill-advised amount of time. Klein's high IQ and field vision enable him to sense when he should move the ball and then deliver a precise dime to the open teammate.              Large is a remarkably fast prospect with incredible ground ball skills who recently committed to D3 powerhouse Salisbury University. Those two assets combined with his tenacious on-ball defensive skills should help Large see minutes as a freshman for the Seagulls. With speed as well as his ability to cause turnovers and then secure the resulting GB, Large frequently is pushing the transition game for his teams. When Large is leading the fast break, his quick cuts and elusive stick maneuvers enable him a threat to go coast-to-coast for a goal or an assist. In a team defensive setting, Large is an excellent communicator, his slides are always on-point, and he does a fantastic job of navigating screens.        Mapes is a fleet footed and well-built prospect with a high IQ and extremely polished defensive techniques. That list of assets enables Mapes to smother ball carriers 1v1 in space. Mapes owns solid footwork and tremendous discipline, so he excels at turning offensive prospects multiple times until they make a mistake. Then Mapes will unleash a powerful stick check or crafty lift to cause a turnover. Mapes can also work as an elite team defender where his slides and double teams generate turnovers. Plus, Mapes has demonstrated a knack for disrupting passing lanes with his stick. Once Mapes has secured the GB, he can lead transition opportunities or roll to open space and then fire a precise clearing pass to a teammate. In early December Mapes committed to Merrimack.       Earlier this month Mulhern gave his verbal commitment to Holy Cross. Mulhern is a major score for the HC coaching staff as he is an elite two-way midfielder. Offensively, Mulhern is a lefty with speed, imposing size and elusive moves. That trifecta makes Mulhern a transition phenom who can score or distribute at full speed. In 6v6 action, Mulhern can explode past the initial defender, charge through slides / stick checks and then score in close with powerful overhands or sidearm rips. Mulhern's field vision and high IQ often produce creative dimes on his dodges. Defensively, Mulhern is a menacing on-ball defender with a non-stop motor and a physical edge. Mulhern has a habit of getting into offensive players early in their dodge and stopping their charge to the net cold. His solid frame, long wingspan and quick reactions enable him to be a ground ball machine too.
