Additional Standouts From Alliance League Summer Championships

Below is Part II in my review of prospects who battled through the oppressive heat in Maryland this past weekend and impressed with their outstanding play at the A.L.L. Summer Championships.    Down in Maryland, Good displayed arguably the smoothest stick skills we saw all weekend. Good's quick hands and shifty body movements produced several Instagram worthy highlights. His ability to vary his shot placement by changing hands or levels with his stick really grabbed my attention. Good's stick skills are creative and flashy, but he rarely committed a turnover or took an ill-advised shot. Last weekend Good also proved he could simply run past defenders in the open field and then shoot on the run or draw a slide and then dish to the open teammate. Good was equally effective operating from the wing or X. When he was off-ball, Good displayed crafty and well-timed movements. He displayed a solid ability to find open space, receive a pass and then quickly fire a shot into the back of the net.           Kopittke is regarded as one of the top 2028 prospects in North Carolina and last weekend at the Alliance Summer Championships he lived up to that billing. Like a lot of elite midfielders, Kopittke possesses the speed and quick burst to run past defenders. However, what separates Kopittke from the pack is the bag of elusive moves he displayed. Kopittke's ability to execute spins, cutbacks, change of pace moves, and/or swim dodges, during one-on-one situations as well as in tight spaces was extremely impressive. Once Kopittke navigated his way into open space, he demonstrated an instinctive feel for whether to pass or shoot. When he fired on net, Kopittke pinged corners and delivered bouncers with both hands. Kopittke also showed he could find the back of the net from deep via step-downs or on the run.         A slew of players have earned the label of a “versatile prospect.” However, at the Alliance Summer Championships, Swenson redefined that adjective. Last weekend Swenson played close defense, LSM and SSDM at a high-level as he helped push 3D New England to the 2028AA division title. At all three of those positions Swenson displayed excellent speed, quick lateral movements, a high IQ, and the ability to throw nasty stick checks. That list of assets enabled Swenson to cause of host of turnovers. Swenson also displayed the ability to play a physical brand of defense on the perimeter and behind the cage. With his athleticism, long strides and precise passing skills, Swenson was a major factor in 3D's transition game too.         At the A.L.L. Summer Championships, this athletic and crafty LSM showcased his wizardly stick skills at both ends of the field. On defense, Turse created turnovers with lifts and poke checks as well as crowd pleasing can openers. He also excelled at delivering slap checks at just the right moment. After the ball hit the ground, Turse repeatedly used his quick hands to secure possession in traffic. Turse's speed and shifty moves enabled him to rapidly carry the ball into the offensive end. His ability to execute a variety of dodges at full speed was impressive. Once he was in range, Turse let fly with powerful overhead and sidearm shots. Defensively, Turse also proved he owns the footwork and patience to pursuit ball carriers for extended stretches on the perimeter or behind the cage.
