Northern Ohio All-State Watchlist

St. Ignatius, Hudson, and Hoover are bringing back a ton of talent in Division 1 and will be competing fiercely this season. St. John's Jesuit, Wooster, Chagrin Falls, and University School be looking to maintain their dominance in Division 2. The North is more talented than ever, with the '25 and '26 classes setting a tone for the future. I have highlighted some standout players at the top, and below, I have listed other notable names from the north coast region. Ferguson is a tough player to contain. He can score from anywhere above GLE, and can initiate his dodges quickly while under pressure. He knows his range and only needs a small window to make a play happen, releasing shots and passes at precise moments. He keeps his feet moving on dodges and uses a speedy change of direction to take advantage of poor defensive positioning. He moves with intent and plays fast. Skilled at using either hand and is a monster on an island, picking apart his defender. Ferguson was named Second Team All-State a year ago and will look to help guide Ignatius through another challenging schedule in 2025.     Hahn keeps his head up when dodging and adjusts his actions on the fly, whether that means passing to an open teammate or positioning himself for a better shot. He doesn't rush the play and takes what the defense gives him. He is comfortable playing in small spaces and under pressure, using a quick release when he has the ball. Unselfish and fast, Hahn's decision-making really stands out, as does the speed at which he plays. He will be an important asset for Wooster and a key contributor on a team that fell just one game short of the Final Four in 2024.     Zupsansky scored 72 points in 2024. He has a powerful shot with either hand and is highly accurate while on the move. He's aggressive on the field and does not back down from challenges, contesting ground balls and running through contact. He plays smart lacrosse, and has the ability to make big plays and create scoring opportunities out of nowhere. Zupsansky plays until the whistle and is a threat from any angle, whether from distance or near the crease. He is a well-rounded offensive player and a name to remember in Ohio.     Seighman is another key player on a loaded Ignatius roster. He is a downhill dodger who knows how to capitalize on late slides and can power through contact. With his speed and Lax IQ, he excels both on and off-ball, cutting at the right moments and passing the defense before they can respond. He punishes defenders. Seighman has a nose for the goal, sure hands, and a shooting range that stretches the field. When he sees an opportunity, he takes it.     French accelerates rapidly out of dodges and gets through small spaces, fitting the ball into tight lanes. He keeps his eyes up when he's dodging and can make swift decisions with the ball, it's part of what makes him such a dangerous player. Even if he doesn't beat you with his feet, he can beat you with his arm and vision. He's decisive. Has a very strong step-down shot, and he's aggressive when riding the ball. French Is comfortable under stress and works well within a few yards of the goal, a spot that can be challenging. He's got a balanced skillset and grit, I think he will make a lot of noise this season.     Rembielak is a big-bodied, left-handed attacker known for his dodging ability and skill to score from anywhere. He effectively uses his strength and size to push past defensive players and create space for himself. When he's being pressured, he protects his stick and uses his size to gain an advantage. He's elusive and can navigate around weak defensive slides while keeping his head up to set up the next play. This attackman is one of the best in the state and is expected to have a significant impact for Hoover this season. Once he gains momentum, he's tough to stop.     McManamon is a skilled dodger with excellent body control. If he sees an opportunity to make a play, you can bet he's going to make it happen. He works well off of picks, demonstrating the ability to make plays quickly while on the move. He also does a great job of getting his hands free when constrained. Additionally, McManamon keeps his eyes up while dodging and makes deliberate decisions after successfully drawing slides. Another important aspect of his game. Watch out for this northern standout.     Cavalcanti combines IQ with aggression and it shows in his game, he's a very well-rounded player. He excels at timing his stick checks and physical contact, and has elite footwork. He can match his opponent's movements and maintain his balance when engaging near the crease. Cavalcanti smoothly drives players away from the goal while applying pressure with his stick. He plays at a fast speed and reacts quickly to plays around him, making him dangerous off-ball as well.     Wherever Smith lines up he is sure to have an impact. He possesses speed and height, and he delivers strong, deliberate checks. He uses disruptive lift checks and follows them up with effective physical pressure. His timing is exceptional and leads to caused turnovers. When the ball is on the ground, he is likely to recover it and start transition play. Overall, Smith is a force to be reckoned with.     Warmath is an athletic player with an active stick. He keeps pace with his opponents, whether running or shuffling, using precise checks to create turnovers and strong pushes that drive players away from the goal. Additionally, he is valuable in the clearing game. He has stick control and vision when maneuvering around opponents, and he makes hustle plays. Last spring, he received honorable mention All-State recognition and is looking to lead the Jackson defense this year.     Boyle is speedy, allowing him to keep up with anyone he's defending. He also has a solid outside shot when he finds his way onto the offensive end. This SSDM retrieves ground balls and uses his athleticism to navigate through heavy contact, finding open space and securing clears. His versatility makes him a threat all over the field. Boyle is a multidimensional defensive midfielder capable of impacting both defense and offense. In 2024, he was named Third Team All-State.     His ability to promptly get a shot off allows him to find a lot of openings. Even if you get a stick on his hands, he finds a way to get the ball out. Voinovich plays with tenacity and maintains a quick pace when he plays. He rides the ball fiercely, and when he causes a turnover, he works hard to regain possession of the ball. Voinovich positions himself well and uses his athleticism to force defensive slides, it also enables him to make slick plays off-ball.
