Longhorn Shootout Recap: 7 Players Who Showed Up & Showed Out

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2024 Longhorn Shootout brought together the best local high school talent for an exciting two-day tournament at the Whitaker Sports Complex on the University of Texas campus. Despite a challenging start with cold, rainy weather and muddy fields, the event showcased great competition, sportsmanship, and determination from some of Central Texas's top teams.&nbsp; Westlake topped the Varsity A bracket, and Gateway was crowned the winner of the Varsity B bracket when it was all said and done.&nbsp; The 5'11" junior middie plays with a lot of composure and is a silky-smooth player with deceptive dodging instincts.&nbsp; Ammann is as happy to dish out a dime as he is putting one in the back of the net, making him a popular player amongst his teammates.&nbsp; He plays equally tough on both ends of the field and will take faceoffs when the team's FOGOs aren't available. Fazio is an athletic, powerful dodger who also possesses good outside range. The 5'10" LSM/defenseman is fast, physical, a ground ball machine, and a total animal out on the field. The Maroons looked to Ramberg in clutch moments to make a play, and he did not disappoint, leading the team in goals and contributing in every game.
