Battle of Yorktown High School Tournament - Uncommitted Part 1

Every fall on Veterans Day, Yorktown High School hosts the "Battle of Yorktown" Lacrosse Tournament, celebrating the rich history and tradition of lacrosse in New York while supporting the noble cause of honoring veterans. New York has a storied reputation for producing exceptional lacrosse players and coaches, and this event captures the spirit of the sport's legacy. Teams like Yorktown, West Genesee, Iona Prep, and many others compete for fall dominance, blending the excitement of the game with a meaningful tribute to those who have served.    Michael Desiderio is a versatile close defenseman and long-stick midfielder for the perennial powerhouse Yorktown High School and Express North. A four-year starting center and two-year captain for the Yorktown Varsity Football team, Michael brings a strong, athletic foundation to his lacrosse game. His low center of gravity and exceptional footwork from football translate seamlessly to his close defense play, where he uses his strength and footwork to stay in front of attackers and control his matchups. Michael is known for his physicality, great ground ball skills, and willingness to push transition. He's not afraid to take the ball upfield and look for scoring opportunities, making him a dual threat who can contribute on both ends of the field.     Zac Klein is a dynamic long-stick midfielder and defensive midfielder from Horace Greeley High School, who plays for 2Way. A dual-threat defensive specialist, Zac excels in one-on-one matchups against midfielders, using his speed, quick footwork, and defensive instincts to shut down dodgers. His gritty style of play allows him to effectively contribute both as an LSM and an SSDM, consistently winning ground balls and providing solid defense. Zac is also a standout in wing play, using his speed and tenacity to disrupt clears and help push transition. Additionally, his ability to take face-offs as an LSM adds another dimension to his game, as he is skilled at tying up the FOGO and securing the ground ball. With his combination of defensive versatility, ground ball prowess, and transition skills, Zac is a well-rounded and highly valuable asset on both ends of the field.     [player_tooltip player_id='120800' first='Luke' last='Fehsal'] is a dominant defender from Archbishop Stepinac High School and a standout player for Prime Time. A freshman starter on varsity, Luke made an immediate impact, finishing the season with 85 ground balls, 29 caused turnovers, and 33 faceoff wins, helping lead his team to a state championship. Known for his ability to pick off passes and disrupt offensive plays, Luke is exceptional with ground balls and has a knack for getting his team possession. His speed and incredible footwork make him a lockdown defender in one-on-one situations, and his hard-hitting, physical style sets the tone for his team. Luke is equally adept at guarding both the fastest midfielders and the most dominant attackmen, showcasing his versatility. He excels in wing play during faceoffs and is also a threat on the faceoff X, where his ability to tie up the FOGO and secure the ground ball adds an extra dimension to his game. A skilled and smart defensive player, Luke's combination of athleticism, lacrosse IQ, and toughness make him a force on both ends of the field.     Ryan Elliot is a skilled and reliable goalie who plays for Express North and started for the Iona Prep Gaels as a Sophomore, which is not an easy feat. Known for his excellent ball-stopping ability, he consistently makes key saves that keep his team in games and help shift momentum in critical moments. With a quick release and sharp reflexes, Ryan is adept at stopping high-velocity and placement shots, demonstrating versatility in all aspects of the game. His strong communication and leadership in the crease allow him to organize his defense and make smart, game-changing decisions under pressure. Ryan's work ethic and steady presence in goal make him a valuable asset at the next level.     Luke Kaplow is a reliable 2027 goalie from Horace Greeley High School (projected starter for this Spring) and a standout player for 2Way Lacrosse Club. Known for his excellent positioning, Luke consistently puts himself in the right spot to make key saves and stop shots with efficiency. His calm demeanor during clears allows him to remain poised under pressure, making accurate and decisive outlet passes to push the ball up the field. A strong ball stopper, Luke has the ability to shut down a variety of shots, from outside blasts to close-range opportunities. His combination of strong positioning, composure, and quick outlets makes him a solid presence in the crease and a vital part of his team's defensive unit.
