Every fall on Veterans Day, Yorktown High School hosts the "Battle of Yorktown" Lacrosse Tournament, celebrating the rich history and tradition of lacrosse in New York while supporting the noble cause of honoring veterans. New York has a storied reputation for producing exceptional lacrosse players and coaches, and this event captures the spirit of the sport's legacy. Teams like Yorktown, West Genesee, Iona Prep, and many others compete for fall dominance, blending the excitement of the game with a meaningful tribute to those who have served.    Brady Sheridan is a dynamic two-way midfielder for Yorktown High School and the Predators, known for his relentless work ethic and ability to excel at both ends of the field. A true workhorse, Brady consistently covers the entire field, contributing on offense and defense with equal intensity. His versatility is evident in his exceptional ability to use both hands, allowing him to be a threat in various situations. Off the ball, Brady has excellent movement, consistently finding open space and creating passing lanes, which makes him a constant offensive threat. He is particularly strong at winning ground balls, controlling possession, and quickly transitioning the ball upfield. With his clear vision and solid passing, Brady helps maintain offensive flow while also locking down defensively, making him an invaluable asset to his team. Standing at 6'2", Nash combines his size with exceptional footwork, which is rare for a player of his stature. Starting on varsity as a freshman, Nash quickly made his mark, finishing his freshman season with an impressive 50 goals and 24 assists. A smart and unselfish player, Nash excels within an offensive system, always making the right plays and positioning himself for success. His shooting ability makes him a constant scoring threat, whether he's taking shots from a distance or finishing around the crease. A solid finisher, Nash consistently converts chances and is a tough matchup for defenders. His combination of size, footwork, scoring ability, and lacrosse IQ makes him one of the top young attackmen in his class.     Ryan Long is a dynamic long-stick midfielder from West Genesee High School who plays for True Upstate. A dual-threat defensive specialist, Ryan excels in one-on-one matchups against midfielders, using his solid footwork and lacrosse IQ to stay step-for-step with dodging players. A gritty and physical defender, he is highly effective at winning ground balls and plays with a relentless motor, especially in wing play during faceoffs. Ryan's ability to push transition during the clear and quickly turn defense into offense adds another dimension to his game. With his combination of toughness, speed, and ground ball skills, Ryan is a well-rounded and impactful player capable of locking down opposing midfielders and igniting fast breaks.     Matthew Napolitano is a skilled midfielder from Iona Prep who plays for True Westchester. A smart and disciplined player, Matthew excels within an offensive system, always making the right decisions and positioning himself to contribute to his team's success. With solid footwork and a keen lacrosse IQ, he is able to create space and navigate through defenses effectively. A reliable shooter, Matthew has a quick release and is accurate from various spots on the field, making him a constant scoring threat. As a solid finisher, he consistently converts opportunities, whether from outside or close to the crease. Matthew's combination of shooting ability, smart play, and strong fundamentals makes him a valuable asset to any offense.     Cole Feshal is a steady and reliable goalie from Archbishop Stepinac High School who plays for Express North. Cole consistently puts himself in the right spots to make saves and shut down opposing shooters. His strong fundamentals allow him to track the ball well, and he's a solid ball stopper, especially in high-pressure situations. Calm and composed during the clear, Cole shows great poise under pressure, making accurate outlet passes to initiate transition and get the offense moving quickly. His combination of strong positioning, mental toughness, and reliable clears makes him a cornerstone of his team's defense.
