One Percent Fall Showcase: Uncommitted 2026 Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The fall season is in full effect, and Matt Chandik's One Percent Showcase recently gathered 138 of the top uncommitted players in the 2026 class from across the country at Rutgers University - Cook Campus on October 12, 2024. His natural athleticism jumped out immediately, showing off his quick lateral movement and downhill speed. Wichmann's explosiveness paired perfectly with his exceptional field vision and willingness to attack the net. It was clear that he wanted the ball in his hands, and when it was, the ball seemed to find its way to the back of the net. Not only did Wichmann have great shot selection, but he proved to be more than capable of creating space off the dodge no matter where he was on the field. Whether it was a catch and shoot or a dodge down the alley, his quick release and ability to change planes while shooting maximized his scoring potential each time the ball left his stick. Along with his impressive scoring, Wichmann had a knack for finding an open teammate when he didn't have a shot himself. He is calm under pressure when the ball is in his hands, and with his combination of strength and quickness, he's always able to run himself out of trouble. Garcia is confident with the rock, and he's more than capable of finding an open passing lane whether he's behind the cage or dodging from up top. He's very crafty and attacks the net aggressively but wisely with great finishing ability. He also has a tendency of slipping his way into the cracks of the defense when he doesn't&nbsp;have the ball, which makes him a scoring threat at all times. Garcia is a versatile player, and his solid build and playmaking ability makes him flexible to not only control the offense as an attackman but also run out of the midfield. He's a natural competitor with impressive athleticism. On the defensive side of the field, MacDonald was able to act as a lockdown defender, forcing several turnovers before capitalizing on the offensive end. He's comfortable with the ball in either hand, which makes him tough to guard. His lateral quickness makes him a threat to gain separation and get his hands free for a high percentage shot while dodging down the alley. MacDonald also knows how to exploit openings in the defense and position himself comfortably for step-down shots with time and room. No matter who was tasked with guarding him, Aquino seemed to find ways of slipping by his defenders with ease. He is a very deceptive dodger, strategically luring his defender to a precise point of the field before starting his attack to the net. He can go around you or through you, but Aquino mad one thing very clear; he will find a way to get past you. As a result, Aquino creates a lot of movement when the ball is in his hands, and he knows how to distribute the rock. He can read the field well and always has his eyes up looking for the open pass. However, he's not only a skilled passer. He never seems to be out of place, and he never takes a play off. Humphrey is highly aggressive while playing on ball defense, and he throws strategic checks to make the ball carrier uncomfortable. However, he doesn't solely rely on his stick while playing D, instead providing a great combination of both stick and body checks in order to force the ball carrier into retreat. Like I said earlier, Humphrey never seems to be out of position, and that applies to his off-ball defense as well. He plays great team defense by being vocal on the field and providing help defense when necessary. He is also very agile and capable of sticking to his man while maintaining pressure as he gets dodged. Not only this, but because McInerney is a left-handed defender, the effectiveness of his stick checks are amplified when he is matched up against a right-handed attackman. He excels while covering behind the cage, but he also has the talent and athleticism to cover a team's top scoring threat out of the midfield as well. McInerney moves well on ball and off, and he is always ready to play help defense without ever seeming to lose his man. While McInerney is solid all around, his number one asset may just be his natural instinct. He has all the qualities of a high-level faceoff specialist, specifically his quick hands and strong frame. Proia never seems to lose the clamp, and once the ball is in his hands, he knows how to protect the rock and run to space or find the open outlet pass to ensure his team gains possession. He occupies the net, leaving little to no space for a shot to make it past him. He sees the ball exceptionally well, and his field vision paired with his quick reflexes help Bacallao make the difficult saves look effortless. Along with this, he is extremely vocal and acts as a true field general as he directs his teammates through slides clears. After making a save, Bacallao is a reliable passer as well. He's not afraid to send the ball to the opposite end and exploit a teams weak transition defense, but he doesn't waste possessions. He has great awareness and always seems to make the right decisions.
