The final Commonwealth Lacrosse League title will reside in Versailles as the Woodford County Yellowjackets took down the Henry Clay Blue Devils 13-10 on Saturday night in front of a packed house at Transylvania University's Pat Deacon Stadium.

For Woodford County, the win gave the program its first ever championship and ensured that the Yellowjackets would end the year as the only team without a loss in the Commonwealth. Woodford County is the first team from outside of Louisville or Lexington to ever win a championship in the sport.

As it has been all season for the Yellowjackets, it was the youth that helped will them to victory on Saturday night. Freshman sensation Greyson Hodge led the Woodford County offense while sophomore Parker Ishmael anchored what was a solid defensive showing. The Yellowjackets went wire-to-wire for the win as they struck first and never trailed. A 3-3 tie at the end of the first is a close as the Blue Devils got to taking the lead. While Henry Clay twice cut the deficit to one in the second half, the Yellowjackets answered swiftly in each situation.

The attackman put his speed, awareness, and stick skills on display on Saturday night. Hodge paced the Yellowjackets with four goals on the night. His best came late in the first half as he grabbed a wild snag with the trailing defender on his heels, broke towards the middle of the cage, and stung the top left corner before soaking a hit. Hodge played with a ton of hustle, also making a big difference on the ride as he helped to force multiple failed Henry Clay clears.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-664a5664c8eb8"} /-->

He serves as Woodford County's primary faceoff but also sees time on the defensive end as short-stick. Twehues also has the skill to make things happen on the offensive end, as well. He is a well-rounded playmaker and a true grinder. He went 43% at the dot and while he didn't win the battle outright or win every clamp, he knew how to stay and fight the ground ball battle.
