With the 2024 regular season now over in Pennsylvania, below is a review of four Class of 2026 prospects who assembled impressive sophomore campaigns this spring.
The first asset that college coaches will love about this FOGO is his adaptability. Guzy’s high IQ and instincts enable him to quickly analyze an opponent’s approach to face offs, then successfully plan and execute a counter move. With his counter in place, Guzy’s precise mechanics and quick hands enable him to win draws cleanly. Once he has secured possession, Guzy can carry the ball into offensive end where he is threat to score or distribute. His ability to absorb significant contact and still advance the ball into the offensive end is noteworthy. Guzy also does a tremendous job of snapping the ball to his wings for an easy possession. Guzy won draws at a 66% clip this spring and scooped up 104 ground balls.

Last summer Heilig was a Nike All-American and named an All-Star at One Percent Showcase. Then the 2024 season served as his breakout on the high school scene. Heilig is an accurate lefty midfielder who can pick corners from the perimeter. The distance from which he can find the back of the net is impressive. Heilig’s well-timed off-ball movements make him difficult to guard. He can also carry the ball to X where his quick first step and crafty moves enable him to blow past SSDM and create scoring opportunities for himself or teammates. During his sophomore campaign, Heilig has registered 24 goals and 12 assists. After the regular season, Heilig was named to the 2nd Team All-PCL squad.

Kupsey is an offensive machine with the versatile skill set and athleticism required to initiate offense from anywhere on the field. In 2024 he racked up 64 goals to go along with 33 assists and was a 1st Team All-Ches-Mont selection. Kupsey’s speed and ability to navigate through traffic enable him to thrive in the open field. Kupsey’s shifty footwork and creative dodges generate scoring opportunities for himself and others when he is operating on the wing or X. Additionally, Kupsey is a tremendous step-down shooter who can nip corners from deep on the perimeter. Off-ball, Kupsey has mastered the art of cutting into open space for a quick catch-and-shoot. As a nice bonus to his scoring skills, Kupsey is a solid distributor willing to make the extra pass.

Shoemaker is an athletic, downhill-style midfielder who excels at making plays while at full speed. When he is on the run, Shoemaker can unleash rockets with either hand and can draw the defense then move the ball to an open teammate. In settled action, Shoemaker makes excellent use of screens to get himself free for a shot. He also can patiently back down a defender until he gets to his preferred shooting spots. It should be noted that Shoemaker is comfortable playing attack too. In 2024 Shoemaker posted 28 goals and 17 assists. He registered five games where he scored three or more goals. Plus, Shoemaker dabbled with face-offs and won 50% of his draws. Those stats earned him a 2nd Team All-East Penn Conference nod.
